Online Workshop | Teaching for Humanity: Mindfulness and Social and Emotional Learning in Schools

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, “Teaching for Humanity: Mindfulness and Social and Emotional Learning in Schools”, a workshop organized by the Contemplative Education Network, will take place online via Zoom.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Kimberly A. Schonert-Reichl, one of the leading figures in the field of contemplative education and research on mindfulness and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in school settings. Her research explores how social-emotional and contemplative education programmes can promote fundamental human qualities such as empathy, compassion, altruism, and resilience in students.

The workshop will explore the integration of mindfulness and SEL in education, showing how these practices can support students’ emotional, social, and cognitive development and contribute to well-being and mental health in school contexts.

The second part of the meeting will include small-group discussions and an exchange of questions and ideas with the speaker.

The initiative may be of particular interest to those working in contemplative pedagogy, mindfulness, and educational applications of contemplative practices. The workshop is promoted by the “Network and Curriculum Development, and Resource Sharing” Working Group of the Contemplative Education Network.
