Supported by the Research Center of the Italian Buddhist Union, the new international academic journal opens its first two Calls for Papers, exploring dreams, myths, rituals, and the transformative power of love.
The Hyphae Call for Papers initiative marks the launch of Hyphae, Mind & Life Europe’s new international academic journal dedicated to interdisciplinary research on the mind, consciousness, and human experience. Submissions are now open for its first two issues.
The peer-reviewed journal, published under a Diamond Open Access model, aims to foster dialogue across disciplines and traditions of thought, bringing together perspectives from philosophy, neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, and contemplative studies.
The project is supported by the Research Center of the Italian Buddhist Union (UBI) as part of its ongoing collaboration with Mind & Life Europe to advance interdisciplinary research. Francesco Tormen and Chiara Mascarello, respectively Scientific Director and Scientific Advisor of the UBI Study Centre, are also members of the journal’s editorial board.
The First Two Calls for Papers
The inaugural issues of Hyphae will explore two central themes in understanding human experience.
Enacting the Symbolic: Dream, Myth, and Ritual
The first issue focuses on the relationship between dreaming and waking life, exploring how dreams, myths, and rituals contribute to meaning-making and shape our experience of the world.
Particular attention will be given to neurophenomenological approaches, examining how first-person accounts of dreams and third-person neuroscientific observations can inform one another.
The issue also welcomes perspectives from diverse contemplative and wisdom traditions, investigating the symbolic significance of dreams, myths, and rituals in shaping human experience and our understanding of reality.
The Embodiment of Love in Transformative Experiences
The second issue explores the role of love in personal and relational transformation, examining both its generative potential and its more challenging dimensions, including grief, obsession, and dependency.
Contributions may address the connections between love, contemplative practices, reconciliation, and ethics, offering interdisciplinary perspectives on the ways love shapes and transforms human experience.
How to Submit
The Hyphae Call for Papers initiative welcomes submissions from researchers and scholars interested in contributing to the interdisciplinary conversations fostered by the journal.
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts through the official Hyphae editorial platform, where detailed submission guidelines and information about both issues are available.
