A research by the University of Pisa, published in Frontiers in Psychology in the Consciousness Research section, investigates the neural bases of meditation activity, using an exceptional group of volunteers: the monks of Sera Jey, a Tibetan Monastic University in Karnataka, India.
The research group is led by Bruno Neri, Full Professor and head of the courses in Electronics for Telecommunications and Wireless Integrated Circuits at the University of Pisa. Prof. Neri has been a collaborator for several years in designing and implementing various educational activities at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute in Pomaia, Italy. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Buddhist Union Research Center. In 2018, Prof. Neri began studying the effects of meditation on the brain activity of monks hosted in the retreat area of the Tibetan Monastery of Sera Jey in India and continues his research activities to this day.
