MindScience Academy (MSA) – Exploring non-ordinary states of consciousness between contemplation and science

Altered states, or non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC), open a window into dimensions of the mind often inaccessible in everyday life. These states can be explored both subjectively through specific contemplative practices and objectively in various scientific contexts.

The goal of MindScience Academy (MSA) is to encourage and further promote dialogue between the findings of Western sciences and the valuable body of knowledge found in Buddhist traditions over the past 2500 years. It is a project initiated by the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute, in collaboration with the University of Pisa, following the impetus and encouragement received from His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his visit to Pomaia in 2014. It offers a multidisciplinary approach aimed at developing human potential, with a particular focus on inner qualities such as wisdom and compassion.
